AERIAL MAPPING & DRONE SURVEYS
Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UASs) technology has been around for nearly a century, but it certainly wasn’t used in the way we see them used today. As the technology continues to evolve, KOPA continues to stay in step with the ever-changing scope.
At KOPA, we use unique skills and advanced equipment to bring customers a first-class aerial surveying and mapping experience. KOPA strives to provide superior quality aerial drone surveying and mapping services with highly accurate topographic maps and centimetre-level accuracy at any given time.
What is a DRONE survey?
A drone survey uses drones to capture data with the help of downward-facing sensors, such as LIDAR payloads, RGB, or multispectral cameras. A drone survey with an RGB camera photographs the ground several times from various angles, and each of these images is tagged with coordinates.
A photogrammetry software uses this data to create geo-referenced orthomosaics, 3D models, or elevation models of the project area. Using these maps, information such as volumetric measurement or high-accurate distances can be extracted.
Unlike satellite imagery or manned aircraft, drones have the ability to fly at a much lower altitude, capturing high-resolution and high-accuracy data at a much lower cost while being independent of atmospheric conditions such as rain or cloud cover.
What is DRONE mapping?
Drone mapping is the graphical representation of information based on spatial relationships. The drones capture hundreds of aerial images, and these images are then stitched together using specified mapping software to create a larger and more composite image, orthorectified imagery, and digital elevation models in CAD and GIS formats.
Drones are used to map large-scale sites or estates, difficult to access sites, and detailed buildings where the traditional survey is unfeasible, such as heritage sites.
Examples of drone mapping and surveying:
- Geo-referenced orthophotography.
- Environmental and coastal monitoring.
- Visual inspection.
- Topographical surveys for infrastructure development.
- Land management and development.
- Volumetric surveys for mines, quarries, and landfills.
- Coastal erosion monitoring.
- Visualisation.
- Land and vegetation classification (NDVI).
- Cadastral maps.
- Precise measurements.
- Urban planning.
- Data inputs to flood modelling.
- Subsidence and landslip analysis.
UAS & DRONE CONSULTING SERVICES
Development
KOPA is unique in its ability to develop custom hardware, software and sensor integration solutions as needed.
This capability can be used to push the boundaries of what is possible with drone technology, or to integrate more effectively with your organisation’s requirements or processes.
Consulting
With our industry-leading experience, KOPA can assist by discussing your needs, analysing and advising on how drone technology can best assist in your organisation.
This consultation will always be provided in an independent manner, regardless of whether the optimal solutions will involve KOPA’s ongoing involvement, third parties we can recommend, or assisting to establish your own internal drone capability.
We can also introduce you to a wide array of related services including legal, compliance, safety management, training, insurance and others we can recommend through our years of working together with the best in this drone industry.
